KCB Board Meeting – July, 2018
President Debbie Deatherage called the monthly meeting of the KCB Board of Directors to order via conference call at 7:37 PM (Eastern) on Monday, July 16, 2018. Answering the roll call were Debbie Deatherage, Joey Couch, Gerry Slusher, Rick Boggess, Carla Ruschival, Amanda Selm, Josh Gentry, Bill Wright, Sheryl Lott, Jonathon McCarty, Matt Selm, Bill Roberts, Winter Renfrow and Adam Ruschival. Deb Lewis, Frank Campbell and David Smith were absent. Guest Elaine Weisbard checked in late.
President Debbie Deatherage called for reading the June 18 board meeting minutes and summary which were distributed in advance. Winter Renfrow made a motion, seconded by Amanda Selm, to dispense with their reading and approval. The motion was approved.
Treasurer’s Report
Carla Ruschival reported June 30 balances. Rick Boggess made a motion to approve the treasurer’s report. The motion was seconded by Winter Renfrow and approved.
Old Business
President Deatherage asked for comments about the ACB Convention in St. Louis. Several people thanked KCB for the hotel stipends. There were positive comments about the scholarship presentations, exhibits and sponsor presentations. Concerns included mobility challenges at the hotel and issues with the sound system. Members should share positive and negative comments with President Kim Charlson and Janet Dickelman. Carla reported that there are two convention hotels adjacent to the convention center in Rochester, site of the 2019 convention.
Amanda Selm provided an update on planning for the KCB State Convention which will be held in Louisville on November 16-17 at United Crescent Hill Ministries with lodging ($79 a night plus tax) at the Ramada Inn on Zorn Avenue. The committee recommended making donations to support United Crescent Hill Ministries and to support a field trip for the 8-10 students in the UCHM after school program since having the convention there will force the program to make alternate plans. Carla Ruschival made a motion that KCB contribute $500 to UCHM as a thank you and provide up to an additional $15 per child to help underwrite a November 16 field trip for the after-school program. The motion was seconded by Winter Renfrow and approved.
President Deatherage asked for an update on the e-Racers. Although figures are not final, it appears we will be in around fifth place with around $2000. The walk nationally has raised around $83,000, exceeding the $67,000 goal.
